We’re young but at the same time already very mature.

The MHMK was founded as a university in 2006 and is thus still very young. But supporting us is the Macromedia GmbH, which has been successful as an education provider for the media profession since 1993.

With our five campus locations, over 70 permanent professorships and more than 1,800 students, we are the leading private university of applied sciences specializing in media studies in Germany. But for us this is not simply a numbers game but rather a standard of intellectual excellence that is reflected anew everyday in the quality of our teaching.

The following arguments speak in our favour:

An average professor/student ratio of 1:23

We are guided by the principle of individual supervision in which we focus on the personal and professional growth of our students. The excellent professor to student ratio is also reflected in our low student dropout rate of 5–10%.

Direct access to the labour market

Through regular learning projects, the practical semester, the broad network of our professorial staff, numerous learning events with leading representatives from the industry as well as our career service, committed MUMC students find a direct path to the media labour market already during their studies.

Fostering independence

Despite or rather precisely because of the close supervisory relationship between students and professors, the MUMC demands a high degree of individual initiative and independence from its students. And in doing so it prepares them extremely well for their future professional media field.

Career Service: step-by-step guidance toward professional life

At each MUMC campus the Career Service advises students step by step and according to an individualized schedule on their entry into the professional world of media.

Internationality: 6+1 experience abroad, without wasting time

With a network consisting of eight renowned partner universities on all five continents, the MUMC offers its students varied options for a semester abroad that fulfils students’ individual expectations. And the best thing about this is: through the 6+1 programme the semester abroad is integrated into the Bachelor’s course of studies at MUMC. We provide guidance during the stay abroad on all levels, from the preparation to the follow-up stage, and ensure that the semester can be accomplished smoothly at the highest level with all examination requirements and ECTS credits being met.

Management and creativity

A combination experienced at the MUMC which prepares our students optimally for the demands of the media industry. At many levels this combination of management and creativity can be felt at each MUMC campus, and it may also be structured individually according to the student’s level of commitment. There are many opportunities, in the framework of one’s own course of study and also in campus life, for continually seeing beyond the end of one’s ‘nose’ and making common cause with others – be they managers or creative individuals. A collaboration which will later leave its imprint on everyday professional life in the media industry.

Inner-city setting

The MUMC campus locations Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin are situated in attractive media metropolises and all of them are located in the heart of the inner city. The Stuttgart campus forms the core of the Stuttgart Media Centre in Römerkastell.
