In demand: New student record for Macromedia University

Around 1,200 students will begin their studies at the private Macromedia university this week. Compared to the number of freshmen in the previous year, this represents a growth rate of 16 percent, bringing the total number of Macromedia students to almost 3,900. Managing Director Dr. Reimar Müller-Thum attributes the good demand to Macromedia’s typical campus culture at the interface of creation and management.

"This year, more young people than ever before have chosen to study at Macromedia University. I am very happy about this and would like to welcome each of our freshmen", said Prof. Dr. Jürgen Faust, President of Macromedia University.

Macromedia BA studies: Methodical basics plus relevant specializations

Well over 1,000 of the new students are enrolled in the Bachelor’s degree programmes, only about 150 in the Master’s degree programmes – the majority of which begin in the summer semester. "In our undergraduate programs, we combine competence-oriented basic education with industry-specific specialization. This enables us to provide highly relevant and practice-oriented teaching – and apparently that is appreciated by young people," commented Prof. Dr. Dr. Castulus Kolo, Vice President Academic Policy and Research, on the high demand for the BA degree programmes.

Macromedia campus life: Inspiration at the interface of creativity and management

Since its foundation in 2006, the DNA of Macromedia University contains a combination of creative and management courses. With the Vitruvius University in Leipzig, Macromedia University integrates another design school, expanding its range of courses with the management portfolio of Macromedia. "The tension between creation and management is typical of Macromedia’s teaching. The students experience this in personal togetherness, this is tangible in the campus events, but we also cultivate it in interdisciplinary study projects that anticipate the agile, cross-functional working methods of the industry," says Dr. Reimar Müller-Thum, Vice President of University Management and Managing Director of Macromedia GmbH. "Many of our students are looking for exactly this diversity.

We wish all our students, employees and practical partners a productive and inspiring winter semester.
