Macromedia University has appointed German actor Heiner Lauterbach as honorary professor of drama, film and television. His appointment is in the context of the new acting studies, which Macromedia University developed in cooperation with the French drama school Cours Florent. Start of studies is October 1, 2019 in Berlin.
On May 27, 2019, Heiner Lauterbach is awarded the title "Professor of Acting, Film and Television at Macromedia University of Applied Sciences" in Berlin. University President Prof. Dr. Jürgen Faust hands over the certificate of appointment, Prof. Wolfram Winter holds the laudatory speech. On the following day, Lauterbach will give his first acting workshop at the Macromedia Campus in Kreuzberg.
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Faust, President of Macromedia University: "Heiner Lauterbach is the perfect figurehead for the new study segment of Macromedia University. We are very pleased that he has accepted the appointment as Professor of Acting, Film and Television. With his diverse activities as a theater, film and television actor, voice actor and brand ambassador, as director, author, producer and festival founder, he embodies exactly the profile of the autonomous, polyvalent artist who is the model of Macromedia acting studies."
The acting programme at Macromedia University is accredited as a Bachelor’s degree and recognized by the state. Guarantor for the artistic development of the students is the cooperation partner Cours Florent. With their special pedagogy, the Paris drama school has already trained actresses such as Diane Kruger, Audrey Tautou, Sophie Marceau and Isabelle Carré.
In addition to acting skills, Macromedia’s study-programme provides a broad set of management skills. The course of study includes modules in professional project management, self-marketing and networking. "Entrepreneurship is no longer a supplement but the basis of every acting career", Prof. Dr. Jürgen Faust is convinced: "Mobile and web formats, streaming services, commercials and series: the content hunger of the digitized media society is enormous. Actors have great opportunities when they are flexible, mobile and well-organized. "
Heiner Lauterbach supports the approach of the new study programme: "The profession of the actor is by no means limited to classical acting engagements. I can only encourage young colleagues to develop their desire for diversity and interdisciplinarity and to confidently take their own marketing into their own hands. That’s why I support the new Macromedia study programme, which teaches important skills beyond the acting itself."
