Macromedia Catalog: Business card for Faculty of Arts

The goal of the creatives was to find a strong business card for the Macromedia Faculty of Arts. The faculty had just been founded after the merger of Macromedia University and hKDM University of Art, Design and Popular Music Freiburg in 2018. Since then, it has included the study programs Design, Fashion Design, Game Design and Development, Film, Art, Music and Acting.

Prof. Dirk Wachowiak: One DIN A1 poster per study course

"The catalog consists of folded DIN A1 posters that are placed inside each other. A large-format photo motif is dedicated to each study program on the front of the poster and a best-of from student works on the back. In this way, we want to emphasize the independence of the creative disciplines on the one hand, while at the same time giving them a common visual language," says Prof. Dirk Wachowiak.

Prof. Karin Jobst: Photography as a superordinate level of expression

"Typography and photography are the central design elements within the catalog. Photography creates a common level of expression through which we can convey such diverse forms of creativity as music or fashion design," says Prof. Karin Jobst.

Prof. Tanja Schmitt-Fumian: Red Dot as a seal of quality also for the faculty

The Macromedia catalog had already received an award from the Art Director’s Club Germany in spring 2020. The dean, Prof. Tanja Schmitt-Fumian, honored the radiance of the awards both internally and externally. "Red Dot is known worldwide as a seal of quality for exceptional design. I am delighted that this award makes the outstanding competence of our creative faculty so tangible.
