Prof. Dipl.-Des. Gerald Moll was appointed professor at Macromedia University in November 2019. He teaches communication design and interaction design at the Leipzig and Berlin campuses. In addition to his duties as Associate Dean, Prof. Moll is also responsible for the field of Communication Design.

Background of Gerald Moll

Gerald Moll studied visual communication at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf and the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg. He completed his studies in 2000 with a diploma. Initially he gained relevant experience in the media industry at the agency Scholz & Friends and the publishing houses DIE ZEIT GmbH and Gruner & Jahr in Hamburg. Since the foundation of his own start-up in the “Software as a Service” sector in 2012, his focus has been on entrepreneurship, digital transformation, interactivity, as well as UI and UX design. In addition to international awards for his design work, Gruner & Jahr was awarded the IKT Innovativpreis of the Federal Ministry of Economics.

Since 2015 Prof. Moll has been teaching initially at the Vitruvius University of Applied Sciences Leipzig. The contents of his teaching include digital business projects, interaction design processes and the establishment of the CLIC Lab for testing innovative concepts of human-machine interaction. Since 2015, he has been working as a consultant for Sherpa Digital GmbH for various clients in the development of digital products and services.

“The creative approach as a designer and also as a founder has always inspired me. The aim of my teaching is to build bridges between technologies and users, to explore the perspective of human-centered design and to transfer this enthusiasm into practical projects with students.
