Background of Holger Sievert

As a training and education expert in the communications industry, Prof. Sievert has built and managed numerous programs in Germany and abroad. Among other things, he was involved in the founding of the first institute for media and communication management at a Swiss business college, as well as in the establishment of the first MBA for communication and leadership at a South German elite university. In research, he focuses on interactive, international, internal and integrated communication. His most recent studies at the Macromedia University were conducted in liaison with cooperation partners, such as the German Foreign Office, The Federal Press Office and the Council of Europe.

In addition to teaching, Prof. Sievert has always been active in communicative management functions. He began his career at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants before moving to Bertelsmann, where he worked for many years in various functions. He was a member of the board of directors of komm.passion, an agency in Düsseldorf, for more than three years. Currently, he advises many well-known companies in the area of strategic communication.

Prof. Sievert is a member of the Commission on Global PR Research at the Institute for Public Relations in the USA, as well as an advisory board member at the University of Düsseldorf, the Technical University of Munich and the auditing and certification organisation of the German communications industry. He has received international PR Science awards, such as “IPR Bledcom Special Award” and the “Koichi Yamamura International Strategic Communication Award”.

In teaching, it is important for Prof. Sievert to challenge his students as much as it is to nurture them. He encourages students to assume comprehensive responsibility for their own work from the very beginning, starting with the study projects with the partner companies.
