Background of Joschka Mütterlein

Previously, he received his doctorate from the Institute for Information Systems and New Media at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich. His professional experience spans over ten years in the areas of e-commerce, augmented reality development and consulting. This includes the worldwide rollout of the online marketing of a German hidden champion, founding and managing startups in the technology sector, advising SMEs and analyzing digital megatrends for the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs.

In his research, Prof. Dr. Mütterlein investigates the influence of digital innovations on the life of consumers. The focus is on reality-expanding technologies, such as augmented and virtual reality. He also deals with the transforming effects of digital technologies in companies, such as artificial intelligence. His work in these areas has been published in renowned journals.

This includes Technological Forecasting and Social Change or the Journal of Media Business Studies. In addition, he regularly presents his findings at leading international conferences, such as the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) or the conference of the european media management association (emma).

Prof. Dr. Mütterlein applies the knowledge gained from research in his teaching to always provide students with the latest knowledge. In addition, he aims at exploiting the possibilities of digital technologies in teaching, for example through innovative blended learning concepts.
