Macromedia supports Tech Hidden Champion ULMATEC

ULMATEC from Baden-Württemberg is a technology hidden champion in the German-speaking region, which has recently been expanding significantly to North America and Asia. Due to the associated communicative challenges, ULMATEC and Macromedia Munich agreed on a two-stage cooperation model that included both strategic and operational topics. The collaboration spanned one year and included two projects carried out by students from different degree programs. The project series was led by Prof. Dr. Mohamad Badr, Dean of Studies at the Munich Campus of Macromedia University, with further specialist support from chosen university colleagues.

At first, bachelor students from the Filmmaking program started by shooting various image videos to illustrate ULMATEC’s diverse range of filtration products. Under the direction of Prof. Jonas Eiden and Wolfgang Sussitz, an initial concept phase including a revision loop between the company and the university took place. Subsequently, the filming was carried out on-site at ULMATEC. The videos were eventually integrated into various communication platforms of ULMATEC, such as the website, social media channels, or international trade fairs.

Second, master students from the Media and Communication Management program received the strategic task of developing a marketing and communication concept aimed at increasing ULMATEC’s brand awareness in defined international B2B target groups to support technical sales. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Michael Schilhaneck, five student groups worked on the complex task in a structured manner in various steps, including two internal university revision loops. As a result, ULMATEC received five detailed marketing and communication concepts, which were presented to and intensively discussed with the ULMATEC management at the end of the project. In the meantime, selected sections of the concepts have already been implemented.
Daniel Ehrhardt, CEO of ULMATEC, is impressed by the cooperation: “Very good results in both projects, which help us immediately and prospectively.”

Prof. Dr. Mohamad Badr summarizes the project series as follows: “Many thanks to ULMATEC for the trustful cooperation. Both projects fully contribute to the curricula and were important practical experiences for our students, which qualify them further for future work tasks. Overall, a very pleasant and professional cooperation that was highly valuable for both sides.”
