Macromedia University: Dealing with the new Coronavirus

According to official measures and in order to protect students and staff from infection with the new coronavirus, the sites of Macromedia University will be closed from 17.3.2020.

Nevertheless, Summer Semester 2020 summer semester is taking place as planned for approximately 3,800 students. Most courses change to an online learning platform on Monday, 16.3.2020. Students will be informed individually about exceptions.

Due to the threat posed by the new coronavirus, the management of Macromedia University decided on 12 March 2020 to suspend classroom teaching at all seven university locations in Munich, Stuttgart, Freiburg, Cologne, Hamburg, Leipzig and Berlin until further notice.

In accordance with government orders, the campuses will also be closed from Tuesday, 17 March 2020. Employees from university administration and teaching will operate from their home offices. They can still be reached at their normal contact addresses.

Relocation to online: Teaching activities in the summer semester according to plan

Despite the corona crisis, students of Macromedia University of Applied Sciences start the summer term as scheduled on 16 March 2020.

The basis for the courses is the learning management platform Moodle, which has been successfully used at Macromedia University for years. In addition to learning independently of time and place, online based classroom teaching will take place as online lectures, meetings or personal coaching.

With the continuation of the teaching activities, the university wants to ensure that students do not suffer any disadvantages in the course of their studies and to counteract the general uncertainty with regulated daily routines and a positive, constant learning experience.

The university is in close contact with the responsible authorities of the federal states. A central crisis management team evaluates developments on a daily basis and informs students and staff about adjustments to the implementation plan.

In addition, a telephone hotline has been set up for students on each campus to answer questions about the implementation of the course and the coronavirus in general:
